Racer and Chicklette have been in school now for about a week and a half. They seem to be enjoying it, but they also seem a lot more tired. Racer, of course, placed highly in his leveled reading and math groups. I don't know where Chicklette placed, but I would assume it is in the mid- to high-levels. They look so cute in their uniforms. This was a casual dress day. On formal dress day, Chicklette gets to wear a jumper with a white or light blue button-up shirt and a tie. Racer wears a light blue button up shirt with a tie also and slacks. Our foreign exchange student, Nimo, was with us that day also. On to the meal plan. I decided to try to make Mondays more or less meatless as an experiment. Hopefully everyone will get full. I also made all of our Thursdays crockpot days because we have homeschool co-op for the other kids in the morning and a few other activities on a couple of those evenings. It will be good to be able to have dinner ready with less fuss. I am going to try doing a lot of stuff for breakfast ahead of time as well so that's done in the mornings. I am not really a morning person. Maybe on a Saturday I will make up a bunch of our breakfast stuff. I was thinking of doing it each night ahead of time, but it may be easier to do it all on a Saturday before I get so tired in the evenings.
I kind of had a meal plan last month and kind of didn't. Even when I did have something written down, it got switched up occasionally. It was a little stressful for me so this month I have a slightly more detailed meal plan. I also need to make sure that I use up all the produce I have canned and preserved this season so I'm trying to write those down so I actually use them. Racer's soccer schedule kind of messed with my usual organization too. Plus, I didn't really do much grocery shopping, which sounds great, but doesn't work so well in practice. DH has different ideas about what I need to cook. DH and I went through the freezer last night so the first half of this month was filled in with some of those meals.
So here's the plan. Let's see if I can keep with it better this month.
Here's the meal plan for August. As always, I didn't plan any meals on the weekends because DH usually cooks those and I don't plan lunches because I'm not always sure when I am going to have leftovers. We are going to have a lot of tomatoes from our garden this year. I will be trying to process them into sauces like this one, but I know I will have to use a bunch fresh also. I also have to see if pizza will work with Chicklette's ballet class she will be starting. Ballet at 4:30 PM and pizza night? Hmmm. I'm trying out a new format for showing the meal plan. This format takes a while to enter in and you can't download it. It is easy to read though. Let me know what you think about it.
So I have a couple blank days in here. I'm sure they will get filled in. Jack takes Saturdays and Sundays to cook so I don't plan out those days. |
